Abstract:
Materials management is personified in warehouses. In this sense, good warehouse management
contributes to the complete functioning of the institution to which it belongs. On the other hand,
failed management can compromise activities carried out within the institution. The objective of
this research is to analyze the reception, storage, and distribution procedures in the warehouses
of the campuses outside the headquarters of UFCG in accordance with the IN 205/88. UFCG
was chosen because it is a university with a multicampus structure and considerable geographic
distance between campuses. Data collection took place through direct observation and, after
the analysis phase, the data were compared with those obtained in the theoretical referencial,
especially with IN 205/88. The results revealed that some procedures adopted by warehouse
managers need to be revised, such as, for example, the use of formulas present in IN 205/88 to
assist in decision making regarding the quantity of stock replacement, the adequacy of physical
space, and the acquisition of modern software for stock management.
