Over the years, electric energy has become increasingly important for the full functioning and development of society. In Brazil, there is an installed generation capacity of 175,878 MW, with the residential sector accounting for 30% of total consumption. On the other hand, the number of accidents of electrical origin in the country is considered worrying. In order to guarantee the safety of people and animals, as well as the efficient use of electricity, it is essential that the houses have adequate projects. In this work, the electrical installations of a residence in the city of São Miguel-RN were analyzed, in the light of the guidelines set out in the technical standard NBR 5410:2004, from ABNT. Based on the established diagnosis, a new electrical project was proposed following the appropriate safety and service standards for this case. The project includes forecasting of loads, circuits and demand, in addition to sizing that encompass a standard for the supply of electrical energy, conductors, protection devices and conduits. Considering the renovation of the residence in progress, it was possible to monitor and record parts of the new installation, also meeting the owner's requests. After an analysis of the project carried out, the conclusion presents the cost estimate and proposals for future improvements.
