Resumen:
Cotton agribusiness is one of the most important human activities, beside car and petroleum industry. More than 190 billion dollars are produced by year, 30 billion just with the lint. To the cotton agribusiness is important that the fiber maintained its characteristic during the
storage. Fiber regulator stocks are kept by the govemment to supply the textile industy and to adjust to market prices, buying or selling raw material. This work was made to: evaluate the lint storage behaviour during 21 months in Patos and Campina Grande (State of
Paraíba) of fiber produced by two cultivars; supply informations about lint storage to the paraíba cotton storaged sector. The design have been used was the completely randomized, in a 2x2x8 factorial scheme. The factors used were two cultivars ( CNPA 7H and BRS 187
8H), two storage locais ( Patos and Campina Grande) and eight sample dates (Ei; E2, E3, E4, E5, EÕ, E7 e E$). The fírst sample (Ei) was taken at 0 days after storage and was evaluated to the mains lint traits. The others samples was taken after every three months.
The datas have been analysed with the ASSISTAT software, version 6.2 Beta (2000). The means were compared by tukey test at the 5% significance levei. With the results it was ended that: 1) along the storage period: the yellowness and the micronaire (thinness) they
tended to increase; the resistance and the lightness to decrease; while, the length (Span Lenght and the commercial), the type and the uniformity index tended stabilizing, in other words, practically they were not influenced. 2) with relationship to the places: the cotton
stored in Campina Grande it maintained a better fiber quality with relationship to the yellowness, length (Span Lenght and the commercial), uniformity index and micronaire; the cotton already stored in Patos it provided a better resistance and lightness to the fiber. 3)
the fiber of BRS 187 8H overcame the one of the CNPA 7H with relationship to the yellowness and the uniformity index; with relationship to the other studied characteristics, CNPA 7H overcame BRS 187 8H.
