Resumo:
The degradation of a reservoir and its drainage basin is due to the way humans take care of it. In this perspective, for an in-depth understanding of the conditions of this environment, it is essential to carry out an environmental diagnosis in this area. The objective of the present research was to identify the degrading aspects that occur in the Açude Ribeiro drainage basin, located in Sítio Mufumbo (Aurora-CE) and
present proposals to mitigate them. For this, the methodological procedures that supported this study occurred in an orderly manner with the use of literature in the area, records through photos and the cartographic contribution through maps. Data analysis was performed based on the deductive method. Through this study, activities that degrade the reservoir were identified, indicating the consequences of the actions taken,
which are the eutrophication of the spring, loss of flora, contamination of water through heavy materials, leading to a reduction in the quality of this environment as a whole. It is concluded that the numerous inappropriate human activities in line with the population's lack of environmental education and the inexistence of any type of regulation by the public power are the aspect of the whole problem raised.
