This dissertation constitutes a proposal for Teaching Philosophy in the Light of Care for the
Self in Foucault, that is, it aims to be a teaching proposal applicable to high school Philosophy
students, based on which they can leave self-knowledge to immerse yourself in the discovery
of taking care of yourself, that is, taking care of yourself. Therefore, from the thinking of
philosopher Michel Foucault, approaching us, above all, to the Foucaultian category of Self
Care (epimeleia heautoû), which is more than a pedagogical proposal to be worked on in our
classrooms, more than that a theory to be applied with our students, given that it is a way of
living, of a conduct of life, of truly assuming oneself as a subject, knowing oneself and taking
care of oneself. It is about following a psychogogical path, from self-critical practices that can
allow the subject - in this case, the students - this awareness of doing oneself, of taking care of
oneself, understanding that it is a fundamental path for the individual can become an authentic
subject of himself. Based on Foucault's thought, we also point out some approaches to
Education and its implications in it, highlighting that Education must be a path of true liberation
for the subject, during the formation of his subjectivity, through practices that are critical of
himself. We suggest that Education, through the School's space, should be a privileged place
for the subject's resistance, based on self-care. Finally, as a practical way to make what we
propose possible, we present the intervention project, which we call "Fifth Philosophy", in order
to be applied in the post-pandemic context, since we are unable to carry it out nowadays. But,
we make explicit all the steps of the referred project to be followed. In this way, we will be
able to achieve the desired results at the time of application. We also adopted the Foucaultian
writing of the self, in order to allow the student this path of encounter and self-care.
