Resumo:
The organic fertilization emerges as a fundamental part in the process of reducing the
production cost and environmental impacts decreasing. Thus, the objective of this
research was to evaluate the influence of this source kind of nutrients on the growth and
yield per plant of the cultivar BRS 286 cotton plan. This research was conducted at
greenhouse conditions belonged of the National Center of Cotton Research (CNPA),
which is located in Campina Grande, Paraíba State, during the period from April the 3rd
to August the 6th of 2012. This work consisted on the study of the effect of two organic
fertilizers, the first one Organic Compound (0, 360, 720 and 1440 g.pot"1), produced and
marketed in the town of Monsenhor Tabosa, Ceará State, and second, the Castor bean
Pie (0, 90, 180 and 360 g.pof1), and a control with chemical fertilizer (NPK), done
according to the plant recommendation. The quantities of organic fertilizers (CO and
TM) applied were calculated using the following doses of nitrogen: 0. 80. 160 and 320
kg.ha"1. The plants were sown in pots of 60 liters and daily irrigated by drip irrigation
system, always leaving the soil near its field capacity. The datas were subjected to the
variance analysis, F Test at 5 and 1% probability, the comparison between the witness
and the factorial was made by orthogonal contrasts, but for the treatments were adjusted
regression equations for those with significant effect. The organic compound studied
doses did not favor the cultivation of cotton plant. Increased doses of castor bean pie
based on nitrogen benefited the growth of cotton plants, and approximate the optimal
dose of 250kg N.ha"1 in TM. At the end of the experiment, the interaction of the dose of
320 kg.ha"1 in TM with approximately 220 kg.ha"1 in CO, was efficient on cotton
growth. Practically no difference was realized for the treatments and control nor
decrease the quality of BRS 286 cotton lint because of the used nitrogen sources
