Abstract:
In the last few years, several technologies have been developed based on scientific
knowledge and they directly influence our daily lives. Meanwhile, an area of knowledge
that is increasingly making part of our experiential world is the Nanoscience and the
Nanotechnology (N&N), an essentially interdisciplinary theme, since it involves
knowledge from several areas such as: Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It is interesting
that current affairs, like the N&N, are approached in an environment in which people
have a first contact with the sciences, that is, at school. Addressing contemporary
themes in the classroom can make students understand how technologies work, which
are often present in their daily lives, contributing to the scientific literacy process of
these students. Technological discoveries also end up influencing the development of
educational legislation, including the BNCC. In its scope, this document aims to
implement contemporary themes in the classroom. Thus, this research aims to analyze
how the BNCC support the teaching of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in the Basic
Education. This document is organized around competencies and skills, which are
developed through scientific knowledge. Our investigation started from a documental
research, in which we tried to understand, initially, how the BNCC deals with
interdisciplinarity and scientific literacy. Moreover, we identify which skills are linked to
concepts related to N&N. This procedure resulted in an analysis of the document
divided into three categories, namely: Interdisciplinarity; scientific literacy and scientific
knowledge. We also carried out a bibliographical research, in order to discuss the
BNCC from the theoretical references that could support the listed categories. We
observed, in our analysis, that the implementation of the BNCC supports the N&N
approach in the Basic Education. In the last few years, this approach has already been
carried out, even if incipient, for this reason, we hope the results of the research now
carried out can guide other researchers who work with this respective theme, as well
as teachers who work in Basic Education.
