Resumo:
The field experiment was conducted at Agricultural School Assis Chateaubriand,
Lagoa Seca, PB with with the objective of to evaluate the growth and yield of sunflower
genotypes Advanta CF 101 and Helio 253, grown in the field in the system monocrop
and intercropped with subsistence crops in semiarid of the Paraiba. The experimental
design was a randomized block in factorial ((2 x 4) + 3) x 3, with eleven treatments and
three replications. The treatments consisted of two varieties of sunflower (Advanta CF
101 - 253 Helium and VI - V2) cropping system in single or isolated (SI) or
intercropped with maize (Hybrid AG 1051 - S2) and the two species of bean ( Carioca
BRS Refinement - Cowpea IPA206 and S3 - S4), other than the isolated planting of the
crops intercropped with sunflower ( M l , F l and F2). Each plot consisted of four rows of
sunflowers, that in the case of the plots consortium, were interspersed with three rows of
beans or corn row and each experimental length of 5.0 m and 0.7 m spacing between
rows and 0.3 m between plants, the central rows were deemed usable area for all
treatments. The following characteristics evaluated were plant height, stem diameter,
number of leaves, leaf area, height of insertion of the chapter, the chapter diameter, final
stand, pest incidence, grain yield and the index area equivalence. The diversification of
varieties of sunflower promoted differences in growth patterns, regardless whether
intercropped or isolated system. The average grain yield for sunflower cultivation in the
experimental area was 1972.42 kg ha-1. Efficiency Despite front the monoculture , the
system of intercropping sunflower with corn leads to lower yields than when
intercropped with beans.
