Abstract:
In this research we analyze the memory of elderly people about aging in a case study
conducted at UAMA (University Open to Maturity) in Campina Grande, Paraíba. The
time frame for this work encompasses the period of 2008, the year the project was created
at UEPB, until 2017 training of the recent class. With general objective we discuss the
memories, sensibilities and subjectivities written and told by the students at UAMA. We
reflect upon the discipline and governability to aged bodies and the conception of
curriculum adopted in the light of promoting healthy and active aging process. We
analyze the enunciation of students and their aging perspective at UAMA as a space of
sociability and intersubjectivities in the intergenerational and generational relationships
built with others to (re)define esthetic of living. We discuss the diverse narratives of men
and women who represent the students at UAMA reflecting upon feelings concerning the
writing and self-narratives in the construction of their lives using the memory as a way to
tell oneself in childhood, youth, in the family relation, relationship and work. The
documents used as part of the collection of daily school routine in the institution
Memories of life and narratives taken from interviews conducted with coordinators,
professors and the elderly. As theorical framework we have Michel Foucault (1979),
Francisco Ortega (1999), Michel de Certeau (2010) and Alistair Thompson (1997). This
objective of this is to contribute in the discussion on history of education and the teaching
practices to consider the experiences and subjectivities related to aging.
