Resumo:
The research addresses the recycling of buildings, especially buildings for culture. Its general objective is to propose an architectural design through recycling to the Centro Universitário
de Cultura e Arte (CUCA) building in Campina Grande - PB, Brazil, located in Açude Velho, an area of important value to the city’s landscape architecture. Its specific objectives are: to integrate the existing building into the natural and built environment of Açude Velho (FORM); adapt the use of the existing building to the current sociocultural demands of Açude Velho (FUNCTION); to propose a flexible and adaptable spatial and constructive solution to the diversity of appropriations (TECHNIQUE). It is based on documentary, bibliographic and
field research (physical survey) on the existing building, as well as observation of its perceptions and history, through interviews, questionnaires and non-participant observation.
