Abstract:
This work aims to understand the methodologies used to teach the recorder at the Escola de
Música Renascer em Cultura, in the city of Queimadas-PB. This research, with a qualitative
approach, characterized by the case study, had as a first step the literature review, seeking to
dialogue with authors who research about the teaching of music in non-formal spaces and in
religious institutions, such as Lima (2017), Amaro (2016) and Novo (2015). The second step
consisted of analyzing the methods used by the institution. Then, the collection of empirical
data was carried out in three stages: the application of a semi-structured questionnaire, through
Google Forms, aimed at recorder students; interview with two recorder teachers, working in
that school and participant observation, performed by the researcher during the classroom and
remote classes. In view of the collected data, we sought to reflect and analyze them in the light
of the music educators who anchor this work. As a result, the relevance of the Escola de Música
Renascer em Cultura for the city of Queimadas is observed, since, in addition to the classes
promoted by the institution, free events are held in order to share and socialize the activities
developed. Furthermore, it was possible to notice the students' engagement in the activities
promoted in person and also remotely, which took place in the online environment.
