Résumé:
This paper is a review on the social viability of the projects of agroindustries installed with
resources from PRONAF Infrastructure in the Territory Sertão Occidental in Sergipe, in the
period from 1998 to 2002, focusing on obstacles that arise in the management of these
enterprises. It describes the considered model of management and analyzes as the process of
definition, implementation and management of agroindustries were chosen and the results of
these experiences. It were implanted 26 agroindustries, 50% of these are up and running
traditional activities - houses of flour and only one nontraditional: 01 benefit machine of
beans; 15% are disabled and 35% of that, all involving new activities, never worked.
Knowing the situation of the installed agroindustries and understand why most of them do not
succeed are the object of this research. Among those reasons, the limited social viability of the
projects, the manipulation of the process by politicians and business groups. This work will be
able to contribute with the territory in the direction to disclose the importance to previously
evaluate the social viability of the initiatives of territorial development, using the experiences
lived deeply with the PRONAF Infrastructure to build new strategies of management, and
suggesting corrective measures and redirect for the processes.
