Resumo:
The Annato {Bixa orellana L.) is an arbust of the bixacea family, that vegetates in forest
ecosystems in the Tropical America. Their seeds are covered by a rouge layer that has a
high concentration of bixine, which is a natural dye used in the food, cosmetic and
pharmacological industries largely substituten of the sintetics.This research was developed
aiming to determine the annato and pepper physical propreties. It was done tests utilizing
the TSG 70-140 machine, that is known over the world as Jenike Shear Cell and
recommended by the main international policies. The following properties were
determined, particle size, density, interface friction angle, interface friction angle with
consolidation time, angle of effective friction, angle of effective friction with consolidation
time, friction angle of silo wall and flow function. The results show that the annato has
different comparing to others granulate products: the increment of moisture content results
in a decreasing in the studied angles.
