Abstract:
The disposal of solid waste on the planet is alarming. One of the alternatives to reduce waste, which would be destined for l andfills, is recycling. However, this only happens with a small amount out of all material that is thrown away. For its implementation, the waste must be separated correctly so that specialized companies can transform these items into a new raw material, as with glass, which has an infinite cycle if the procedure is done correctly. It is well known that today's society needs solutions that are implemented to resolve the issue of all the waste that i s generated. Based on this premise, this project aims to present a proposal for Upcycling as an i nnovation tool, which consists of creating a new life cycle for the product, by giving it a new function or by transforming it into a new artifact, usually of
high added value. The initiative comes from the abundance of discarded glass bottles in the city of Aurora / CE, which are not taken for recycling. The method of development of the new product is experimental and gives a useful purpose to this material so that it reduces the garbage in the city. The project also aims to establish the connection of garbage collectors and awakens the interest of the population for the correct separation of waste and its reuse. It must also be taken into account that the creation of an aesthetically well-finished product from what was garbage has an educational potential. Thus bringing the imminent awareness about the discarded materials, encouraging people to rethink what garbage is.
