Résumé:
Nondestructive tests aim at analyzing the existence of discontinuities or
faults in materials, parts or structures. These tests are performed using
physical principles defined without altering the physical, chemical and
dimensional properties of them. In the present study it was evaluated the
potentialities of using hall effect sensors in order to analyze the behavior of the
magnetic flux density and its interaction with a ferromagnetic material. SAE
1020 Steel samples with different geometries were used to determine the effect
of dimensions in relation to the density of the magnetic field applied to the part
to be tested. The geometry effect was also evaluated through simulations using
the Finite Element Method. The results show that from the geometry studied
there is a thickness value from which measures the density of field lines
become independent of it. According to the simulations results, comparing them
to the experimental data, it was observed that the minor errors values were
obtained for the density of distant field values that lead to the saturation point
of the sensor.
