Trabalho na decadência: relações de trabalho em Campina Grande/PB no século XX.

Abstract

The object of this thesis is the analysis of labor relations and their impact on workers, as well as the performance of the Labour Court in an attempt to composition conflicts. Time frame was chosen as a time when Brazil lived under a regime of extreme political repression, the socalled "Years of Lead", falling between 1969 and 1974, a period that coincided almost entirely with the "Economic Miracle" in which the country has reached unprecedented levels of economic growth. Moreover, the research site was the city of Campina Grande , located in the state of Paraiba, which suffered the effects of that "miracle" in evil way, with a decrease in their levels of economic growth, with effects on workers. The research had the main source lawsuits filed by the Labour Court in the city in the indicated period. This material was supplemented by analysis of studies on the structure of the city, of which I tried to find elements to portray the city then, to better describe the daily lives of workers. The methodology set out the theoretical framework exposed by authors such as Carlo Ginzburg and Natalie Zemon Davis in works such as "The Cheese and the Worms" and "The Return of Martin Guerre", having been the descriptive, qualitative, bibliographical and documentary approach. The results demonstrate this animosity in labor relations, as well as lead to the conclusion of the actual existence of the Working Class with the characteristics indicated by EP Thompson.
