Résumé:
The paper studies the literary work of Antônio Henriques Neto, poet from Picuí,
whose poetry realize resizing the various manifestations of country / Northeast
popular oral tradition. Divided into three books - Poesias Dispersas (1979); Poesia,
Folclore e Nordeste (1985); Voz de um Homem Rude (2001) – the Henriques Neto
poetry is permeated by traditional values and customs, gestated within the Hinterland
and transmitted - often orally - by generations of sertanejos through time. The poetic
effort to give to (re)construct significant elements of the various forms of cultural
manifestations gestated by inlanders. The poet from Picuí – a work of cultural
mediation – is an “producer author”, which marks what takes as popular culture,
poetically articulating a traditional/folkloric past through a narrative of the experience
that builds representations. Through “metaphor” a backwoods reality, poetry by
Antônio Henriques Neto – represented in multiple images of man and nature –
presents to us as a need to view and say Hinterland and inlanders who are rude,
strong and honored Antônio Henriques Neto is a cultural mediator who builds
representations of country pop culture, whose main characters are lush nature and a
harsh, strong and honorable backcountry man.
