"Operários" da bola?: experiências sobre a profissionalização dos jogadores e clubes de futebol de Campina Grande - PB (1960-1975).

Abstract

The objective of this dissertation is to discuss how football players and clubs were professionalized and what their experiences and social relations with the leaders and between them in the city of Campina Grande - PB (1960-1975). In 1960, the two main teams of the city of Campina Grande, Campinense Clube e Treze, debated the professionalism of the teams, that is, the athletes would now be professionals, would live of the sport, considered a serious leisure. This debate led to a series of changes in the clubs and players. After all, professionalization gave rise to a new group of workers, who would follow disciplinary norms, such as schedule, hours, and a formal contract. On the other hand, the two clubs began to grow and to gain regional projection, breaking the hegemony of the teams of the capital paraibana. Theoretically, we work with the experience category of the social historian Edward P. Thompson. Methodologically, with the Carlo Ginzburg indoctrination paradigm. Regarding the sources we tried to make a dialogue between the oral reports and the archives of Diário da Borborema, a newspaper that accompanied the soccer world during the studied period.
