“Quando o Brasil resolveu cantar”: a identidade negra na música de Sérgio Santos e Paulo César Pinheiro.

Abstract

This article proposes the possibility of working with Sérgio Santos and Paulo César Pinheiro 's afro-songs in the classroom, in order to understand the identity formation of Brazilian society and to seek a self - affirmation of this identity, based on the analysis and interpretation of the songs from the album "Africo : when Brazil decided to sing ", which bring the history of the Negro since the Atlantic crossing, his contributions to the national culture and its definitive integration into Brazilian society. In this sense, working with such songs will enable pedagogical practices that will contribute to the combat of racist and discriminatory attitudes in the school environment.
