Resumo:
This study seeks to assess the issue of indigenous culture in high school in the
discipline of sociology, where this work is a joint research for the completion of the
specialization course in Education for Ethnic-Racial Relations, in which study is a
dynamic, of the way of thinking and to pass a content starting from the analysis of the
book "The Indian that lives in our head" as a paradidático resource, made available to
the public schools and its relation with the application of the law 11.645 / 08 that
establishes its obligation of transmission in the Brazilian public education. In the
present study methodologies of approaches were developed and developed from the
bibliographical reading, contained in the paradidático on the indigenous subject and
the teaching of sociology, as well as the experiences offered in high school in the
discipline of sociology, in the Irmã Stefanie School, in the city of Campina Grande,
located in the state of Paraíba, with the general object of passing the understanding of
the representation of indigenous culture. Bringing in this way a discourse on the
approach of the indigenous culture to be perpassed to the students in a way not to
personify and stigmatize, making possible the construction of a reality that is inserted in the social environment of the students, placing the indigenous peoples as an integral
and important part of the construction of Brazil's cultural historicity.
