Escola politécnica e construção identitária de Campina Grande como pólo tecnológico (1932-1973).

Abstract

This paper aims to rewrite the history of the Politécnica School in the period 1952 to 1973. Our premise is that the creation and consolidation of this institution will materialize in Campina Grande part of the development aspect prevalent in this society. The analysis of the importance of the Escola Politécnica to the city and the imaginary development in Campina Grande occurs from training, material hardships, the transfer of headquarters, laboratories, health plans and the technical-scientific cooperation established between this school and the various national and international institutions, the teachers coming from other institutions, as well as the relationship between the Politécnica and some social segments of Campina Grande and region. During this period, the Politécnica has established itself as a production space science and technology. For this analysis, formed the basis of a documentary material that was established several correlations between them, highlighting issues and editorials published by the Diario of Borborema 1957 to 1973, memories produced by the subjects who lived through this period and this documentation in the Central Archive the UFCG.
