Resumen:
When starting to move around and explore around, the child begins the process of
forming your identity. Several experiments are fundamental to help her building
her identity. Among these experiences, it is found the contact with the fairy tales,
which according to Coelho (1991) are stories that make part of the life of every
child, even before they learn how to read and they are as familiar as the lullabies
that they were rocked by. This research aimed to discovering the contribution of
fairy tales from children‟s construction identity, from the psychoanalytic theory of
Bettelheim (1979). The methodology adopted was performed by means of
literature, exploratory and interpretative, through the analysis of the short story
“The ugly duckling” (O Patinho Feio). The results showed that in general the fairy
tales contribute positively and significantly to the childish identity formation.
