Abstract:
Approach to metalanguage in high school Portuguese language textbooks. This paper aims to analyze the use of metalanguage in High School Portuguese
Language Textbook Collections. Specifically, it’s objectives are: to observe and
understand how the metalanguage teaching/study is approached in high school
teaching collections, to identify the relation between the metalanguage proposal in
the teacher’s manual and what can be applied to the student’s book and describe the
influence of the Curriculum Guidelines for High School (OCEM – Orientações
Curriculares para Ensino Médio) in composing textbooks. This research corpus is
made of high school textbook collections from many different decades, all by the
same authors, given that the focus is on teaching/study metalanguage. To carry out
the analysis of this corpus, it has been established as theoretical basis some theories
that come from linguistic studies and language units enunciations, specifically
metalanguage.
