Abstract:
The objectives of the present study were to identify the effects produced by the sodium chloride and the magnesium sulphate on the development and mineral composition of the table beet (Beta vulgaris L . ). Plants growing in a sand culture were submitted to levels of 0,80,120 and 160 me/1 of sodium chloride and 2, 7,15 and 23 me/1 of magnesium sulphate. Both, the dry weight and the mineral composition of the plant were affected significantly by the sodium chloride. With exception of some influence on the mineral content, the magnesium sulphate did not produce any effect of the plant behavior.
