Resumo:
The researchers Chanine; JazdzewskI (2000 apud BATISTA, p. 3) coment about women's
behavior at a time of world wars: the First and Second World War. They point out that in the
period of the World War I (1914-1918) women have adopted a very independent stance when
they saw themselves alone for the first time with duties to take care of their homes and their
children. In the period after the World War II (1939-1945), women took a completely
different approach, longed to bring back the good air and the beauty to their homes. So, they
let the independent spirit of the 20s and sought increasingly elegance and emphasized the
importance of marriage. Household chores were also seen as pleasant, thanks to the new
technologies. Despite the exalted glamor of that time Chanine; JazdzewskI (op.cit.; p. 4)
point out that this period of luxury and beauty did not last long, since in the early 60s, women
would return to seek their place in society, thus strengthening the feminist movement. A
representative example of this new atmosphere where the woman was inserted is the writer
and poetess Adalgisa Nery, who, among many books devoted to poetry, published in 1959,
her first novel A imaginária. We believe that the historical aspects presented before are
important to understand the social atmosphere of the time that the writer published her novel.
Considering the aspects previously presented, we have developed the following question:
How is the female subject discursively constituted in A imaginária, by Adalgisa Nery? To be
able to answer the central question of our research, we list the general purpose of analyzing
the speeches on women in that novel. Also, we have the following objectives: to observe how
the female subject in the novel A imaginária, Adalgisa Nery is discursively formed through
the discursive formations, and verify the effects of meaning that produce the female subject,
in that novel. We will build on the concepts of Bakhtin (1993), Dantas (2001) and
Maingueneau (2006) to lecture on literary discourse; we also contemplate aspects of Pêcheux
theory (1988) and Orlandi (1988, 1993) in order to address aspects related to the constitution
of subject and discursive formations. We believe that the position of women in the 60s
reverberates to the current position of women in contemporary society. We believe that the
work of Adalgisa Nery recounts, though subjectively, a reflective view of women, expressing
speeches, and is in inner struggle and so escapes the stereotype of "home‟s woman," for
which the house and her husband provide all the happiness and female accomplishment.
Study the work of Adalgisa Nery, under the discursive view, makes us understand the history
of women and the participation of social changes in construction to woman of the century,
now it is constituted in society, and so can actively express your voice.
