Abstract:
This work aims to analyze the reception of the Augustan poetry of Angels from four author of
poems: "Modern Buddhism", "up", "Sonnet" and "Verses of Love," published in the work I
To this end, we aim specifically.: 1) to expose and discuss how the high school students of a
public school in Campina Grande receive Augustan poetry of Angels; 2) Suggest ways to
approach the poems. From the explanations of Santos (2002), Viana (2001), Machado (1998)
and Almeida (2012), we intend to review this poetry receipt of moments at the beginning of
the XX and XXI. Supported the views Jauss (1979 and 1994), Iser (1979) and Pine (2009) on
the aesthetics of reception discuss the contributions of the theory to the literature of education.
And in order to reflect about reading in the teaching of this discipline, we base on the
discussions Rao (2013), Pine (2006), Silva (2008) and Rivers (2008). In reviewing the written
activities seek to observe the impressions of high school students after reading the work and
discussion of the texts in the classroom. The results of this research showed that the Angels
Augustan poetry had a significant reception in the classroom, since students established the
interactive reading with poems, reflecting the poetic innovation created by the poet to the
historical context of the time that was perpetuated in our contemporary, relating to the ideas
of poems to current reality, thus obtaining a more critical and reflective about the world,
realizing also the relevance of poetry of Paraiba in literature classes.
