Resumo:
This study aimed to investigate the management of solid waste carried out at the Garden Hotel
and Resort, located in Campina Grande. The research aims to analyze the way solid waste
management occurs in the hotel, according to the perspective of managers and employees. For
that, a descriptive research was carried out with concepts that address questions about
environmental management and solid waste management, both in general and specifically in
the hotel sector. The study used an essentially qualitative approach through visits to the study
site and the application of questionnaires to employees and hotel managers. The results
pointed to the absence of a solid waste management culture implemented in the hotel, which
highlights the need for more effective planning and action aimed at a more solid environmental policy. Although employees have a good level of knowledge about solid waste,
there is a need to improve waste management techniques and carry out training for the team in
order to seek to implement a culture focused on caring for the ecosystem. In summary, the
study demonstrated the importance of implementing sustainable practices in the hotel sectors,
helping to minimize the environmental impacts resulting from inadequate management of
solid waste.
