Resumo:
In the present work, we will seek to build the trajectory of Padre Galvão, coming from the
interior of Pernambuco in 1938 and arriving in the municipality of Pocinhos-PB, changing the directions of a village previously belonging to the city of Campina Grande. Our time frame runs from the 1940s, when the newly ordained priest arrived in Pocinhos, and extends until 1965, the time frame for the inauguration of the first junior high school institution in the city, which was named of its founder. We will use the concepts of Symbolic Power, Social Field, Political Culture and School Culture in the light of authors such as Pierre Bourdieu, René Rémond and Dominique Julia, thinking about Father Galvão's performance not only in the educational and religious environment, but mainly through his alliances policies, and in exerting their influence in the community and beyond. We will use Qualitative and reflective research as a method, perceiving our research object through the discourses and subjectivities and practices carried out in Pocinhos throughout our clipping. Among our sources, the highlight is the Livro de Tombo da Paróquia Nossa Senhora da Conceição with the writings of Father Galvão, photographs of different moments of his long passage through Pocinhos, periodicals with interviews granted by this personality studied here and memories of the residents of Pocinhos who lived with the priest and the minutes of meetings of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Institute. It is possible to see that Father Galvão during his trajectory in Pocinhos undergoes changes in his personality, just as Pocinhos has its infrastructure modified through the works brought by the priest. The events that unfold make his personality take other paths and with it the history of the municipality.
