Empoderamento feminino e relações raciais nas “telenovelas das nove” da Rede Globo à luz das análises de narrativas e do tipo ideal weberiano.

Abstract

The study proposes that the characters of the nominated soap operas, Vale Tudo (1988), Explode Coração (1995), A Favorita (2008) e Amor de Mãe (2019), suggests women’s empowerment in their path. Based on the analysis of the constructions of the characters in the proposed soap operas, in their social, cultural and identity aspects, we understand historically how they propose female empowerment. Although we evidence the absence of black characters on the soap operas Vale Tudo e Explode Coração, highlighting how much they were omitted on the dramaturgy history in Brazil. The plots show us the lack of representativeness on soap operas, opposing to the black population in Brazil, that in the IBGE census, reach the mark of 54% of the total population. From a methodological point of view, one Análise de Narrativas (MOTTA, 2013) grounds the fragments of the observed chapters and the Ideal Type (WEBER, 1999) perform a triangular comparative analysis of the model of the ideal type of the empowered black woman, the black woman shown in soap operas and the black woman who is inserted in our society from the Research Institutes. The results suggests that the telefictions promote cultural knowledge when discussing female trajectories that trigger a collective female empowerment, but that show the lack of representation of empowered black characters in almost 70-year history in Brazil. Therefore, we indicate different ways to think about women’s empowerment from the analyzed soap operas and new narratives that promote an assertive representation of black women.
