Resumo:
The rural space has in its structure and daily organization deep patriarchal roots that determine the relations of men and women and their territorialities. Within a context of subalternization, the division of gender roles is reproduced, the invalidation of women's work, and the control of land, income, and family by men. At the same time, the discussions about gender and work in the countryside have reached peasant women, enabling a process of female emancipation. The present work aims to analyze the influence of gender in the production of territories of the Assentamento Queimadas in the city of Remígio/PB from the identification of elements that define female territorialities. To this end, interviews were conducted with eight women aged 20, 30, 32, 37, 60, 62 and 80 years old. As a result, some elements were identified as constituting feminine territorialities, namely the generational factor, marriage, economic and daily activities,
location, and participation in women's meetings. It was possible to conclude, therefore, that these elements were paramount to the construction of women's territorialities in the
Assentamento Queimadas, centered in the domestic space and its surroundings. Gender
relations placed women in a subordinate condition to men, making them develop activities
under male control. Despite this, the interviews showed the path of deconstruction of the socioterritorial structure of the Assentamento Queimadas, mainly through the influence of the women's groups.
