Resumen:
This article deals with the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Commerce in the Municipality of Esperança-PB and aims to understand and analyze the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Commerce. The research can be classified as exploratory and descriptive statistics was used as an instrument to present and analyze the data. Primary information was obtained through a semi-structured questionnaire that was sent in December 2022, through social media, to traders in the food sector of the traditional center of commerce in Esperança. Among the main results obtained, we highlight
the strong negative and positive impacts in sectors considered essential, mainly in relation to the reduction of working hours and wages. Regarding the number of formal jobs under the CLT regime, there was a loss of jobs in the period from April to June, but later recovery. Therefore, it is considered that the impacts of the pandemic on the local
economy of the Municipality of Esperança are not exhausted in this work, since the pandemic situation has not yet been declared, by the competent authorities, as completely overcome.
