Resumen:
Quality of life (QL) is established by the individual's perception of some aspects that
correlate with their position in life in contexts involving social, physical, environmental,
and psychological parameters. Nutritional status (EN) demonstrates the physical,
biochemical, and socio-environmental composition of individuals when analyzed. Thus,
the NES is an indicator that readily implies the quality of life and health of each
individual. That said, given this panorama, this study aimed to evaluate the quality of life
as a result of nutritional status of individuals living in the urban and rural areas in the
municipality of Cuité in Paraíba in the years 2014 and 2019. This is a quantitative
longitudinal study conducted with a sample of 205 individuals, where the assessment of
the NES was done through BMI and QL by the WHOQOL-bref survey. QL was assessed
by mean scores for each domain (physical, psychological, social relations and
environment) as well as classified into Low and Good quality of life. The SPSS software
was used for data analysis. From the above, it was possible to observe that the largest
audience was made up of non-white, adult women with complete or incomplete
elementary school education. The prevalence of EN totaled 60.28% of overweight people.
The score with the best average QL refers to the domain of social relations with 72.77
and 71.74 in both times, respectively, getting closer to a good quality of life. On the other
hand, the low QL is present mainly in the environment domain with the averages 57.56
and 58.61, respectively. In view of the results obtained, it can be seen that the groups
characterized as overweight and obese had the lowest averages in each domain, which,
according to the WHOQOL-bref assessment, shows a dissatisfaction in relation to quality
of life. In this sense, the importance of multiprofessional, intersectoral, and longitudinal
care is emphasized, as well as the awareness of the public devices for people with
overweight and obesity. Finally, studies such as this one are extremely relevant, since
they provide real knowledge through surveys and statistical data that, when well analyzed,
can contribute to intersectoral interventions of public health policies in the individual and
collective spheres.
