The object of study of this work comprises the adaptation process of a van-type vehicle model for the construction of a motorhome, also known as a motorhome or trailer. A motorhome is a recreational vehicle that is equipped with the living space and environments found in a home, such as a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. All these environments are compact and need to be located in a rational way to have good circulation inside. A difference between the motorhome and other travel vehicles is that it has autonomy for a few days or weeks, and for that it needs a system that provides both electricity and drinking water for users. In the short term, this system works easily with the resources that most motorhomes already have, however, the dependence on third parties to recharge and resupply their “homes” is constant. In view of this vicious cycle of dependence on third parties as a support network, and the complexity of
creating compact and functional environments, the general objective of this work is to propose solutions that expand the ways of capturing and storing water, as well as capturing energy solar energy and electrical energy storage and distribution, in addition to bringing a new layout proposal developed from the considerations made in interviews with motorhome users. It is proposed to evaluate researches with themes regarding the construction and living in a motorhome and the like, seeking the solutions that best meet the needs of the project. For this, the work is divided into four parts: theoretical framework, studies of related projects, diagnosis and architectural proposal. The general objective of the research was partially achieved, it was possible to create an autonomous motorhome with improvements to remain without third-party support for a few days, containing a compact layout proposal improved according to adaptations met by the form, but some specific objectives were not fully met. It was discovered that the operation of air conditioning depends on installations that do not yet work in vehicles of this size, as well as the expansion of water collection methods, they require more space to install larger equipment. The research revealed that other studies can explore installation
strategies with greater performance of the electrical system and water filtration equipment that adapt to small vehicles.
