Resumo:
This work consists in making a study of the Differential Equations, applying this knowledge in
the mathematical model for the digestion of ruminant animals proposed by Blaxter, Graham
and Wainman. Ruminant animals are characterized by the ability to regurgitate ingested food,
rechew and swallow again. First, a bibliographical study was carried out, which exposes the
history and concept of Differential Equations, highlighting some mathematicians who
contributed to the development, presenting the definitions, classifications, solution methods and
finally, the application in digestion in ruminant animals, with graphical analysis of the solution
in a particular example about the process in the digestion of ruminant animals, addressing the
time of permanence of food in the digestive system.
