Résumé:
The present study entitled "The Influence of Motherhood on Women's Academic Performance: a study on the teachers of the Teacher Training Center of the Federal University of Campina Grande - UFCG" sought to understand the impact of motherhood on the academic life of the Teachers. Our study started from the understanding that, in a society marked by structural machismo, parental care culturally linked to women, when added to the professional responsibilities attributed to teaching in higher education, suggest a professional and personal reality with important specificities for women, the Understanding this context is important, considering the need to build a more equitable society from a gender perspective. Thus, we discuss current gender representations and their emotions in the academic context, profile the UFCG professor mothers and raise public policies to support women with babies and young children who are professors at the University. Considering that the work was designed and had its field started in the years 2020 and 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when there was a need for social isolation, the research data were generated from an online procedure, the A From the form, we carried out a survey of data on the teacher mothers who are providing their services to UFCG, also discussing their difficulties, support networks, experiences and contributions, and combining a quantitative and qualitative approach, approaching our experiences of the mother teachers. The work falls within the scope of gender research, focusing on feminist issues, as we understand that scientific research must address issues that combat structural machismo, from the perspective of building a fairer society, where women can assume the jobs they want, and that institutions can constitute themselves as spaces of social equity.
