Abstract:
The present work has as its object of study the analysis of five works
by the carioca architect Acácio Gil Borsoi, which adopted the
design principles of Modern Architecture as their language. The
objective of this work is to analyze five works by Borsoi, through the
reading of the architect's original drawings (both technical and
sketches) and photographs. Graphic markings were made (in
shades of orange) on the drawings and photographs, highlighting
the solutions, characteristics and design intentions, which allowed a
better understanding of the design process of the works chosen for
analysis: the Lisanel de Melo Motta residence, the Santo Antônio,
the Court of Justice of Piauí, the Fábrica Bombril Nordeste s/and
the Legislative Assembly of Piauí. Thus, this work intends to
contribute to the revaluation and rescue of the conceptual sketch as
an instrument of knowledge and learning, analyzing and
disseminating this instrument, opening the way for the debate on its
importance. Therefore, it is justified by its academic relevance, as it
can contribute to the development of new works, serving as a
bibliographic reference on this important character and his work,
which have not yet been deeply explored in this sense. As a
methodology, Afonso's method of analysis (2019) was adopted,
which analyzes the architectural object from 7 dimensions of
architecture, namely: Normative, Historical, Spatial, Tectonic,
Formal, Functional and Conservation.
