Abstract:
From the studies carried out about the housing market and, more specifically, the
verticalization in the central area of Campina Grande/PB, in the period between 2000 and
2020, this work proposes to analyze apartment’s projects. Recognizing these urban
processes and the social changes that have occurred in recent decades, it is questioned if
these transformations caused changes in the internal spatial configuration of these
apartments. Therefore, this research is based on the theory of the social logic of space, to
understand the ways of living and how the internal spatial configuration of apartments in
residential buildings has behaved over the past 20 years in the central area of Campina
Grande, through functional, dimensional and configurational analyses. Using spatial syntax
to understand how spatial relationships take place, we seek to find patterns or
transformations among the analyzed floor plans. The results of the analysis show that
despite many variations regarding the type floor plans, the projects tend to have a certain
standardization in terms of spatial organization.
