Resumen:
Sanitary Sewage Systems in Brazil are currently in a precarious situation. Most cities in the
country do not have an efficient system that collects, transports, treats and disposes of effluents
in an environmentally correct manner. This negligence leads to a series of negative
consequences for the environment and public health. The city of Lagoa-PB is one of many that
has a high rate of unhealthy sewage, which can compromise the quality of water and soil due to
these evictions, especially through rudimentary cesspools and open-air discharges. In the
municipality under study, infant mortality rates and hospitalization due to diarrhea are very
high. Thus, this work aims to minimize environmental damage and health problems in Lagoa
through an efficient Sanitary Sewage System. The proposed project has a collection network
that covers the entire urban area, consisting of 272 sections and a total of 17.78 km in length,
two interceptors that border the natural water flows of the two river basins in which the city is
located, a Sewage Treatment Plant of the Australian System type, suitable for the locality and a
study of the location of the receiving body. The work followed the recommendations of the
Brazilian legislation and renowned technical books in the area. In this way, all constituent parts
met the required efficiency criteria. The networks will operate entirely by gravity and the
treatment plant has reached an efficiency level above the recommended minimum.
