Abstract:
This academic work has as a study problem the following question: Women mothers: how do they face and resist the difficulties assuming and putting themselves in this fight to be able to study and graduate? Although women have advanced in conquests through social struggles and with the feminist movement, which over time has been intensifying and gaining strength, these women mothers still encounter many difficulties and overload themselves to be able to study and complete the course. The interest in the subject was due to the difficulties I experienced during graduation, and these difficulties aroused in me the interest in understanding more about this subject. The general objective of the research is to analyze the problems experienced by women-mothers during their graduation and the overcoming they do to complete the Pedagogy course at the Teacher Training Center of the Federal University of Campina Grande. And as specific objectives to identify the main difficulties experienced by women during the pedagogy course; to verify how these students manage to face and overcome the difficulties to study; to verify the main reasons that women seek to achieve their goals of completing Higher Education. As for the methodology, we interviewed six female mothers who study at the Pedagogy Course at the Federal University of Campina Grande, Cajazeiras PB campus , near the end of graduation for a better analysis. The interview took place through a script of questions, allowing the interviewees a free space to answer the questions, basing us on the following theorists Ribeiro (2003) Tobias (1986) Hahner (2003) Aranha (2006) Nahes (2007) who deal with the intersectionality between gender, race and social class, among other scholars who deal with the subject. The results of the research indicate that among the challenges faced by university mothers to carry out graduation, we list difficulties concerning the process of reconciling academic activities with maternal activities, especially for those who do not have support during their academic career. We also mention that the difficulties are amplified even more in the case of those mothers who need to carry out professional activities to pay for family expenses, in addition to academic and maternal activities. We completed this survey emphasizing that there is a vast field to be analyzed and discussed by researchers in the field of education, with regard to the difficulties faced by university mothers, because although some of the adversities are already known, it still lacks greater theoretical/methodological deepening.
