Abstract:
The goats are animal coveted by producers, in some parts of the world. This interest it due its rusticity in relation to other livestock, including tolerance to the heat and performance. The experiment was carried out at CSTR/Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Patos, Paraíba, Brazil and it had as objective evaluate the effect of feeding supplementation in finishing of in native pasture in semi-arid. Twenty-four Boer goats crossbreeds were used, with 120 days old and with an initial live body weight of 15.52 Kg. The animals were properly identified. The treatments were randomly assigned to the animals according to a completely random design with 4 treatments supplementation levels (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5%) and six replications. For evaluation of dry matter (DM) readiness, the herbaceous vegetation was separate in grasses and herbaceous forbs and it was evaluated in three times, beginning, after period of 16 days of adaptation (May 28, 2007), half (July 09, 2007) and final (August 06, 2007) of experimental period. The percentage of grasses increased along the experiment, with values of 38.53%, 42.35% and 88.60% in the beginning, half and final, respectively; while for the forbs presented inverse behavior. The consumption of DM was influenced by feeding supplementation levels, with increase of 257,15 g of DM a day, of 0,65% of live weight and of 20,788 g of MS for kilogram of metabolic weight for each percentile unit added in feeding supplementation. The consumptions verified in animals of different feeding supplementation levels can be considered good, mainly if considered results of other works with goats in pasture. The medium gross revenue, the total cost, cost with supplementation and the relationship of cost with supplementation for kg of live weight were influenced (P<0.05) for the feeding supplementation levels. After 84 days of experiment, the animals were submitted to solid fast by 24 hours and of liquid fast for 16 hours. Then the animals were slaughtered and the skin and the visceras were retreated. The viscera income presented different tendency to observed for absolute weight, except for paws income that presented a decreasing lineal behavior, where an increase of 1% of feeding supplementation level. The weight of digestive content went decisive for the effect of treatments in the weight of full digestive tract, because, when emptying it, its empty weight grew with the supplementation levels.
