Resumo:
Domestic violence is involved in a social structure developed in a social body of macho and
patriarchal origin which, in Brazil, has expanded since the colonization process. The issue of
aggression against women in the domestic space is essential, given that the female image is
placed in inequality before men over the centuries. Along with the advance of the pandemic,
which was triggered by the new Corona virus, women fatally suffered compared to the general
population, since isolation allowed them to increase in different ways the exposure to practices
of violence, reaching the atypicality of the situation in that humanity has been exposed to, in
view of this, it is of great importance to question the reactions of the COVID-19 pandemic with
a principle in confronting domestic violence and what measures are used to combat such
practices, as well as the trends that the problem points to. There are currently government
measures in the country against domestic violence, but in Brazil this index is still high,
especially in the pandemic period, where families with the quarantine lived longer in the family
environment, which was reflected in an increase in domestic aggression in worrying
dimensions, demonstrating a need for new attitudes and measures to combat it. The present
research has as its general objective the study of domestic violence against women during the
coronavirus pandemic, based on the analysis of Law 11340/2006 and its amendments and the
public policies created to curb the practice of this crime. In turn, it has the specific objectives
of analyzing the historical context of violence against the female figure; the existing types of
domestic violence; demonstrate data on domestic violence and existing public policies; present
a brief explanation of Law 11.340/2006 (Maria da Penha Law); present data on domestic
violence in the pandemic period as well as public policies created during the period. The work
will use a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory method of procedure, being of the
bibliographic type with discussion in a descriptive-analytical study through theoretical research.
With the progress of the calamity introduced by the Covid-19 pandemic, it was possible to
notice an increase in violence within the family. The approval of Law 14.022/2020 meant a
great advance in the fight against domestic violence during the new Corona virus pandemic,
but such measures were not enough to reduce or keep the number of cases stable, demonstrating
that there is still a long way to go in the enforcement of existing laws. It is concluded that in
order to guarantee the effectiveness of the Maria da Penha Law, it is necessary to create new
preventive actions, as well as maintaining the existing ones, so that greater awareness can be
generated in society and equal rights for all.
