Resumo:
The livestock of small ruminants is an activity of extreme relevance in the northeast region of the country, both in the sociocultural and economic scope. One of the main challenges faced by producers is proper herd nutrition. Thus, the objective of this research was to determine customized diets for small ruminants in the Paraíba Cariri, using near infrared spectroscopy. The research was carried out at LabNir, headquartered at UFCG - Campus Sumé, and fecal samples were collected from 10% of the herd from seven properties representative of the Paraíba cariri, later the CP (Crude Protein) and BMD (Organic Matter Digestibility) rates were analyzed. ) using NIRS technology, and customized diets were formulated according to the nutritional requirements of these animals, aiming at lower cost-effectiveness. It was found that in the months of higher rainfall, the BP and BMD indices were more satisfactory, and in the months of less rainfall, the results were less satisfactory, although they remained within the standard. It can be concluded that the near-infrared spectroscopy method was highly effective in estimating CP and BMD contents.
