Resumo:
The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different treatments on the emergence and vigor of Mimosa tenuiflora (Willd.) Poir seeds. The seeds were submitted to 11 treatments: Control (T1), Soaking in water at outdoor temperature for 72 h (T2), Soaking in water at outdoor temperature for 48 h (T3), Scarification 40 s (T4), Scarification 20 s (T5), Scarification 1 min (T6), Soaking in Spondias tuberosa Arruda pulp for 10 min (T7), Soaking in Spondias tuberosa Arruda pulp for 15 min (T8), Soaking in water at 100 ºC for 1 min (T9), Soaking in water at 100 ºC for 3 min (T10) and Tegument cutting (T11). Four replications of 25 seeds were used in each treatment. Emergence (%) and emergence speed index (IVE) were evaluated 30 days after sowing, and seedling length, diameter, fresh mass and dry mass were also analysed. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and comparison between means was performed using Tukey's test. The emergence of seedlings began on the fourth day after sowing for the seeds of the treatments Soaking in water at 100 °C for 3 min (T10) and Tegument cutting (T11), and from the sixth day after sowing all treatments were already showing seedling emergence. The highest emergence was verified for Scarification 20 s (T5), followed by Ripping (T11) and Scarification 1 min (T6). Related to IVE, the highest values were for Tegument cutting (T11), Scarification 1 min (T6), Scarification 20 s (T5) and Scarification 40 s (T4). Considering the seedling length, the Tegument cutting (T11) had the highest value, and this treatment differed statistically from the other treatments. For the diameter, the treatments Control (T1), Soaking in water at outdoor temperature for 48 h (T3) and Soaking in water at outdoor temperature for 72 h (T2) showed the highest values and did not differ statistically. The highest value for fresh mass and dry mass was for the treatment Scarification 20 s (T5) whose results differed from the others. Therefore, considering Tegument cutting (T11) and Scarification 20 s (T5) as the treatments that were among the highest values in most of the evaluated parameters, it is therefore recommended to use them in order to obtain more vigorous seedlings.
