This work has as its theme the understanding of the culture and socioeconomic development of milk production, having as an empirical field of analysis, a region of the Semiarid of Paraíba (PB), the municipality of Sousa-PB. The objective is to understand the local geographic space with regard to milk production and the development of the local production chain associated with governmental actions to support family farming, in order to identify the advances or setbacks existing in the period from 2003 to 2021. Thus; The Multidimensionality of the Milk Production Chain in the Municipality of Sousa Paraiba, we list the following questions that drove this research: How are milk production in the semi-arid region related to geographical adversities? What are the impacts of milk production for the city of Sousa? Do family farmers, milk producers have this activity as the main source of income for the maintenance and maintenance of their properties? Are relations with land and milk production nowadays more linked to financial and cultural aspects in the view of the family farmer? In view of this, we theoretically base ourselves on the studies of Santos (2000, 2001, 2006), Joffily (1993), Marx (1978) regarding the occupation of Paraíba's space and the introduction of cattle in the Sertão, the use of spaces and the relations of exploitation of work in the field. As a methodology, we list the bibliographic and exploratory research, in order to seek to improve the ideas with new information on the subject, through field visits in a dairy company, in the Agricultural Defense of the State of Paraíba, and the Regional Office of the Paraiba Research, Rural Extension and Land Regularization Company (EMPAER), from the municipality of Sousa-PB. Information was obtained through semi-structured interviews, carried out by video conference with the participation of a businessman in the dairy industry and an employee of the public office of EMPAER, in addition to documentary research with the Agricultural Defense. The results point to the existence of two aspects that involve family farmers, milk producers, one being economic according to the need for milk production as the main source of family income and the other cultural, associated with the values that are passed on from father to son in the creation of bovine culture. In addition, it is necessary for the State to intervene in support of dairy production and access to land, which has been minimized by this sector.
