Resumo:
This paper intends to discuss the theme of ethnic-racial relations in the school space from the
performance of elementary school teachers in the face of cases of racism in the city of Cajazeiras.
For that, it had as general objective: to analyze how the teachers of the fundamental teaching
approach the ethnic-racial issues in the school environment. And as specific objectives: to
investigate how teachers identify cases of racism among black children; identify how pedagogical
mediation happens in cases of racism that black children suffer in the school environment
and reflect on ethnic-racial relations in early childhood education. Discussing through the theoretical
framework the construction of the identity of black children of how the training of
teachers contributes to the proper development, without discrimination and allows the application
of laws that guarantee equal rights. The methodological path had as a research method the
qualitative approach and the technical procedure the bibliographic readings on the theme to
answer the proposed objectives of this work. The questionnaire that constituted nine questions
about teacher training, forms of hiring and pedagogical actions in practice was given as a data
collection instrument. The research was concluded with the following prerogative: knowledge
combined with daily practice to combat racism, impacting society so that people do not reproduce
and naturalize racism.
