Resumen:
τur research, Foucault and the platonic care of the self: methodological
proposal for high school; proposes a methodology for teaching practice in the
high school classroom. τur philosophical referential is Foucault's analysis of the
dialogue First Alcibiades in his course The Hermeneutics of the Subject in the
classes of January θth and 13th 1982, whose theme is the history of
Socratic-Platonic care of the self. Based on the Foucaultian theory of the care of
the self, we draw a parallel between Socrates' mastery and the role of the
philosophy teacher, as well as between the young Alcibiades and high school
students. In its history, care of the self was understood as an attitude towards
oneself; as a diligent way of looking at oneself and as a set of practices, of
techniques of the self that allowed the subject to change and self-constitute.
Based on this theoretical referential, our methodology elaborated a proposal for
teaching philosophy to secondary school as a practice of care of the self. Such
practice is also an act of resistance in the face of the mode of modern
subjectivity, insofar as it allows the subject to consciously choose the values
that will govern his life, instead of submitting to the standards established by the
powers. Therefore, we applied a sequence of four classes on the theme of
gender equality in a class of the first grade of high school at the Francisco
Ernesto do Rêgo State Elementary and High School, located in Queimadas/PB.
The result of this experience pointed out that teaching philosophy as a practice
of resistance to the mode of modern subjectivity based on the care of the self is
possible and that this proposal contributed for students to relate the
philosophical content to their daily lives.
