Resumo:
The sense of belonging in software engineering teams is still a little studied concept when it comes to
human aspects related to the area. However, some recent research already identifies this aspect with
regard to the effectiveness of teamwork, leadership and productivity. In them, the feeling of
belonging to a team or project, and even to the organization in which they work, allows them to have
good results in their products or services provided. Therefore, this work carried out a case study with
a software development team that works remotely, with the objective of identifying the perspective
of the leader and the developers (non-leaders) of a private company. Through interviews and
observations, data were analyzed qualitatively through thematic analysis. The results show that, for
developers, leadership plays a key role in contributing to this feeling. For the leader, as he values and
encourages teamwork, and maintains improvement actions, the sense of belonging is strengthened,
bringing productivity, engagement and better results in his services.
