Abstract:
Stimulating the collective and creative intelligence of cities is the great challenge of the UNESCO World
Network of Creative Cities. In this context, Campina Grande, a member city of the UCCN in the Media
Arts category, developed, at the UFCG Academic Unit of Systems and Computing, an initial version of the
Cidade Singular application, to help the population publicize and promote activities, goods and cultural
services of the Creative Cities. In addition to the challenge of offering the population a digital means of
disseminating their cultural assets, there remains the challenge of engaging this population in the
collective and voluntary participation of a public policy for the Creative Economy. This work aims to
create an experience in which the user feels motivated to actively participate in the application, sharing
and feeding the system with their own experience. For this, a new version of the Cidade Singular app was
conceived, developed and evaluated, using gamification techniques to increase user participation and
engagement in the mission of valuing the singularities of a Creative City. A qualitative analysis of the
results showed that, in the users' perception, the impact of gamification in increasing the engagement of
the new version of the application was positive.
