Abstract:
In an exploratory study of Botany in rocky outcrops in the state of Paraíba, Northeastern
Brazil, a new species of Acanthaceae, Justicia rubrobracteata, was classified. The
objective of this research was to investigate the influence of indolbutyric acid and
naphthalene acetic acid growth regulators, in different concentrations, on the rooting of
Justicia rubrobracteata, in addition to visually diagnosing the occurrence of pests and
diseases. The research was carried out at the Federal University of Campina Grande,
Education and Health Center in the municipality of Cuité - Paraíba, in a greenhouse
from June 9, 2022 to August 18, 2022. The treatments were T1 - Control - Absence of
growth regulators, T2 - 0.4% naphthalene acetic acid, T3 - 1% naphthalene acetic acid,
T4 - 2% indolebutyric acid. The species was not responsive to the use of synthetic
rooting agents in a significant way, as the control obtained results with similar and
superior means even to the T4 treatment that used 2% indolbutyric acid. It is concluded
that Justicia rubrobracteata does not need synthetic rooters for its vegetative
propagation, both the root compartment and the aerial part of the species had
satisfactory and proportional growth and visual occurrences of pests and diseases were
not diagnosed in the species Justicia rubrobracteata.
