Resumen:
The search for democratic and more participatory management has led public administrations
to use co-production as strategies to produce public policies, generating value in the
improvement of public service provision, in the effectiveness of public spending, in the increase
of social capital and civil responsibility, among other benefits. Education is an arena in which
co-production can and should be implemented, bringing public agents and civil society together
in the construction of learning for students, families, and the community. With the objective of
analyzing co-production in public educational services in the city of Campina Grande-PB, this
study was carried out in three articles. The first aimed to investigate the co-production of public
services and its thematic evolution in the education segment from 2011 to 2021, through a
bibliographical study, to address congruence in the scientific field and advance in understanding
its meanings. The results of the study contributed to the theory and development of the second
and third articles. The second aimed to analyze the types of co-production in different phases
of the public educational service cycle in Campina Grande-PB. To this end, qualitative research
with an exploratory-descriptive nature was carried out, using documentary research techniques,
on-site observation, and semi-structured interviews, including the phases of services and their
levels of participation. In the results, there is occurrence of co-production at individual, group,
and collective levels in almost all phases, except for the co-commissioning phase in both
schools. The last article analyzed the types of citizen participation in co-production practices in
public education in Campina Grande-PB and the resulting benefits, using the same collection
techniques as in the second article, but the script focused on types of citizen participation in co-
production (PESTOFF, 2012) and the potential benefits of (BOVAIRD; LOEFFLER, 2013).
With the results, it was found that political participation is more present in the two schools
analyzed and that the main benefits found are for users and citizens, as it further increases the
social sphere and student construction for the future.
